Slovakia - Bojnice Caslte

Home > Slovakia > Bojnice

The Bojnice (pronounced "Boy-nitch-eh" for my fellow non-slovakian friends) castle is very impressive with many towers and gargoyles ( See my gargoyles page for some great pics of the castle's cement creatures).
Another angle of the Bojnice Castle.
The castle had a gorgeous moat around it...
...and a nice cobblestone walkway around it. (even in the rain!)
Cranes were often elegantly perched atop the towers of the castle.
Inside, during a well-worthwhile tour of the castle (though it was in Slovakian), we saw these beautiful stained glass portraits.
Even the most minute details such as these door hinges were impressive.
These hands holding the lamps in the courtyard added some interesting character to the castle.
The view of the town of Bojnice from the castle towers was enchanting.
After the tour, on our way out, we passed by this very funny restaurant (one of the castle's tourist traps) where large cloth dragons were actually tied to strings in the kitchen as puppets and every now and then the chef would scare a table by dropping the monster almost onto the table.
